Bathrooms reward doing things in the right order and punish shortcuts. Water gets everywhere it is allowed to, so the parts nobody sees — the valve, the seal, the backer board — matter more than the parts they do.
Not every bathroom needs gutting. Often a new vanity, a toilet, fresh caulk and paint transform a room for a fraction of a remodel. I will tell you honestly which one you are looking at.
A refresh is quoted item by item so you can pick what is worth doing. A full remodel is quoted as a job after a site visit, with the fixtures either supplied by you or listed on the quote. Where a job needs a licensed plumber or electrician, I will say so before we start rather than halfway through.
